Edit Trail is designed so your photo archive stays yours. The CLI runs locally. It reads supported sidecar metadata and writes an index on your computer. It does not read image pixels, upload files, call analytics services, or transmit your index.

What the CLI stores

The local index contains sidecar paths, inferred source-image paths, modification timestamps, editor family, active operation names, and parse warnings. You choose its location and may delete it at any time.

Browser demo

Sidecars selected or pasted into the browser demo are processed in browser memory. Their contents are not sent to our servers and disappear when the tab closes. The site uses a service worker cache so documentation and the demo can reopen offline.

Licenses and payment

If you buy or restore a Supporter license, the license token and last verification result are stored in your browser’s local storage. Verification sends only the token to the Sociobot billing API at api.sociobot.in, at most once per day. Sociobot/Dodo is the merchant of record and processes payment details on its hosted checkout; this site never receives card data.

Analytics and third parties

There are no analytics, advertising pixels, third-party fonts, or runtime CDN scripts. The checkout and license verification requests occur only when you choose to buy or provide a license.

Your control

Clear this site’s storage in your browser to remove the cached license and offline files. Delete .edit-trail.json to remove a CLI index. For privacy questions, open an issue in the public project repository without including license tokens or private paths.
